the meaning of status is narrower than just getting a lot of people to know about you, specially in this internet era where almost everyone can randomly go viral. it's more about having a tangible advantage over most people when it comes to access to resources, whether it's inherited or earned

in practice, most people who get a significantly better treatment than the average person have 2 out of 3 of those (status, looks, money)
