Personality in social settings is a perception. You are right and wrong at the same time. People on here wouldn't even get to show off their personality IRL the way they do on an online forum because there are other factors like their looks and voice and overall body language which you can't tell from writing. I can say you're right because it causes them to not show off who they are but false because they don't even get to show their personality. If a mid guy with that problem decided he's not giving a shit anymore and truly showed people his true colors like they do on the forum it might work. His looks and voice didn't change but his language (both verbal and non verbal) which is basically your actual personality did change and it might work.
