Question about eye color

My mother has hazel eyes that are in times looking really green. My father has brown eyes. I think i got a mix of two because when i look at my eyes in mirror while there is direct light my eyes look green/hazel, but in any other situation they look dark brown. Is there any way i can lighten my eyes(without surgery) and have them looking more like in the mirror?
