I haven’t done bench press in a long time, but I do dips regularly. I weigh about 200 pounds and I tie a 25 pound plate and dip for about 10 reps. Is it possible that I can bench over 200 pounds for 1 rep right now?

Perhaps, but who cares?

its best u start light with bench pressing since u mentioned uve been inactive for a while to prevent injury and then slowly add weights after each session

idk br0

total weight on dips usually exceeds bench

i specialised in dips a year ago and got to 40kg + 70 bw but couldn't bench 100.

200lbs bench is still to little to look like u have a decent physique imo. starts at about 300lbs

the muscle recruitment is different but you have most likely gained some strength on ur bench

Either gonna have to go join a gym or buy a bunch of weights and bench for benching.

Benching is overrated anyway. I’ve been bodybuilding for 10+ years, and I don’t know or care how much I bench. I only do decline and incline and look aesthetic as fuck.

I have been lifting at home ever since I started lifting. I went to the gym maybe 2 months out of 2 years I’ve lifted.

I have been doing shoulder press so my upper chest is somewhat developed too.

i don't think so, some time ago when i did both dips and bench press, i could do 3 dips with 145 pounds additional weight (+180 bw) and could do only like 235 or so bench press. When starting a new lift you'd need 1-2 months practice atleast to get your central nervous system adapted to the pathway of that movement, so if you haven't done bench press in a while, just focus on improving your form in the beginning and don't go too heavy

I’m just thinking theoretically if I were to bench what would be my max.

probably less than 200 lbs as your CNS is not used to that particular movement, go for PRs when you have done it consistently for a month or two atleast

Probably best to start out with 400 pounds and see if you can do half a rep. If you can then you can probably do a full rep with 200 pounds. Hope this helps.

Not sure. My dips are very good but my bench is shit in all honesty.

benching your bodyweight isn't really such a great achievement
You know what is a great achievement? Picking up some weights instead of being a keyboard warrior.
