The relationship with my father is rather mechanical tbh.
He loves me and i love him and he hasn't really been abusive or anything for many years.
He understands me more than one might think tho.
We live very far away, so we don't see each other super often, but now that i am spending some time living in italy with him, we are getting closer.

My relationship with my father is good, and I am glad I have him in life. He is the only person I look up to living in my life and strive to be better than him so that I may make him proud. We are very close, and I come from a tight knitted family where close connections matter. I love him a lot for the opportunities he has given me, and where I am today would not be possible without his help. We are not at all awkward, but I'll admit I do rarely speak to him one on one as with his age, he is getting older. He loves to argue, which causes headaches, so recently I have been trying to avoid speaking in his presence but rather listening to what he has to say. He knows me somewhat well but does not know everything about me nor understand my personality that well. Usually, my father never understands me as English is not his first language so he misinterprets what I want to say and this leads to so much confusion when we talk. But for me to understand I do very well, but every so often I fall short and fail to understand where he is coming from. Despite all of this, I love him and would sacrifice whatever I can for him when he asks. Thankfully he is alive, and I hope he lives a long life, he sees me grow into life. Though I know the question is not for me, God forbid if he passed away, my life would be shattered as my family would depend on me or on what he leaves behind I hope that never happens. My mother is alive and well, and slowly I do see my father withdraw from my life as he wishes to grow independently.

my relationship with him can be simply described as okay
we love each other, and he always looks out for my safety
he's the traditional strict type of dad, which i won't be, but he is the foundation of the household and he's shaped my morals and ethics in a way that i will always be appreciative of
we don't see each other much every day, as he's always at work
but, i am grateful for him, and he seems grateful for me
so, yeah, that's pretty much it

Never had much of one, he was never home and also lazy and didn’t do shit and then my parents got divorced when I was 13. And my mom turned us against him in the divorce process. I basically had to pick a side in their fight and now I haven’t talked to him in over 13 years, since I was 18.

I don’t hold any grudge against him but my problem with him now is that he has never once tried to contact me, never once wanted to hear about how I’ve done as an adult. That to me is him choosing no contact. I think he’s someone who deeply regretted having kids and was destined for the childfree life all along.
