@RealSurgerymax have you ever thought about doing distraction osteogenesis procedures ?
It has several benefits like :

- gradual adjustments therefore better aesthetic control. Especially important for procedures where aesthetics are harder to envision during procedures like orbital box, midface surgery (lefort 1,2,3), or even cheekbone osteotomies.
- reduced relapse risk
- better healing
- reduced risk of nerve injury
Plus you could use intra-motorized distraction devices with remote control wdy think ?

This would be lifefuel for ppl like @thecel who are scared of getting orbital box because of the associated health and aesthetic risks

Worse control than ostetomies. Can only move in one direction and the distraction vector can change unfavorably due to gravity and tissue resistance

Not really. And you have to do surgery 2x. One to place them and one to remove them. Putting plates and leaving them in is better.

Yes possible

Distractors dont stretch bone you still have to do the complete osteotomy so this isn't less risk.

last question :

the metal plates that come with OBO, are they thick enough to influence other aesthetic parameters ?
I know its placed on the forehead, so would that make the forehead more prominent ?

@RealSurgerymax what is your opnion on implants that convert to real bone and can then be removed?
