Question to those who actually looksmax

Do you looksmax to "feel better about yourself", or to try to fit in into society's expectations?

Do you looksmax for yourself (to "feel better about yourself"), or to try to fit in into society's expectations?

I said this here before, I actually don't care about my looks. I wouldn't mind being a skinnyfat neckbeard if I could land good jobs, get an attractive girlfriend, get normie friends and such. I wouldn't feel "inferior" to chads that way even if they still mogged me in every regard. However, it's becoming clear that even these trivial life accomplishments are most of the time only really happening those who meet a certain looks and status threshold. Even some neurotypical normies (men) are struggling with the most basic necessities out there.
So that's why I looksmax. I want to actually be seen as human for once.
I'm on my way to get a surgery, and I've been gymcelling for over an year nonstop. I'm willing to put my life at risk for this "project", since I never had any significant life accomplishments since I don't look good in the eyes of society.

I honestly think doing things "for yourself" is cope. I respect those who think that way, but I'm in for actual rewards, for something to actually come into fruition from the validation, to get sex, to get companionship, to be respected, to have people looking up (not down) to me. Feeling good about yourself won't magically change people's perception towards you and that way they won't give you anything back that you might want from them.

What about you, what do you think?

Those two are essentially the same thing if you think about it. If you fit into societys expectations and get positive feedback, you feel better about yourself.

Not necessarily.

You can feel good about yourself and be treated as subhuman by society.
And you can feel bad about yourself at the same time you get every kind of validation and worshipping from society (which happens to many women with first world problems).

In my case, I would only "feel better" if I actually got what I wanted which is more than a simple validation (I want something materialized), only then I would feel better about myself.

@magnificentcel you're coping by jfl reacting. All achievements devolve into struggle of seeking mental validation of yourself. Mental validation from others reinforces image of yourself within your mind which is the ultimate goal behind it. Validation by itself is worthless and wee see it in 30 year olds like Amnesia who do not release any semblance of dopamine when girls say they look like a model. And if the goal is materialistic gain aka sex it is even faultier argument to follow as sex outside of the dopamine rush you experience within it is mostly also a tool of mental validation. Pure materialism is entirely worthless, it's value is dictated by mental qualities. The true argument here is really about what validates your self image more, others or yourself? For me the answer is obvious.
