I said this maybe once before, but I prefer to expect a pessimistic future outcome but behave (and have the mindset in a way) where it is still optimistic. Like, optimism surrounded by pessimism, kinda like the yin yang symbol.

If things are up to chance, you'd be safest preparing and expecting the worst. But the opposite is true, if things are up to chance, then fortune favors the bold, and you must nonetheless "try" in life as if you're the biggest optimist. Expect (prepare, be ready for) the worst outside/environmental circumstances, but also be the most optimistic on the inside, mentally when it comes to your options. If the worst happens, you'll be ready. If the best happens, its easiest to plan and react from there. But never be closed off to something good happening, or a good chance showing itself. Then again, you gotta be super ready to capitalize on that chance, if it were to appear, even for a short moment or a split second, similar to a wild dog seizing the opportunity to escape from his cage, the very split second it is given (fortune). So basically prepare for the worst and best, weight all possibilities, chances, but emphasis is always on the worst because people tend to ignore the worst, and the worst is always more severe. Hence my thread series. I hate the fake optimism that obviously leads people to worse conditions, or wilful ignorance, aka "the copes"
