It's not even on their minds. It's a luxury to have a life where one of your concerns is how much tang your son is getting. They've given up a familiar and safe life and left their country and gone to another one where they can't speak the language, where there is not a familiar face for thousands of miles. The second generation does not have the luxury of failure. They are burdened with their parent's sacrifice and have a greater responsibility to become successful in this more opportune country.
Immigrants and their children are playing a different and higher stakes game than families that have been established comfortably for generations. It much more basic. You don't worry about sex when your starving, and my parents starved. Think about the psyche forged in that condition. The concern of being alpha or beta would be low in the hierarchy of priorities to say the least.
