I've been off accutane for exactly one month and I am still losing 250+ strands of hair a day. About 75 come from the shower. I'm really starting to think this is permanent. I've read multiple threads on different forums where men lost hair from accutane permanently, and I feel the same itchy sensations that they did.

I just purchased a prescription bottle of topical steroids from in-house pharmacy (sebowash) because I think that my scalp is inflamed and killing off the hair follicles, much like alopecia areta (which is a side effect of accutane). Basically, I will do everything in my power to slow down the shedding. I will inject every known chemical into my body until it stops.

Btw I left a one star review on my dermatologist, and he responded saying that it is likely temporary, but I really doubt that is true.

Yeah I heard that is the same as accutane except it gives no side effects. If only I knew about that before taking isotretinoin...

Accutane does not cause hairloss.

Also, losing up to 200 strands a day is normal

Yes it can JFL. It even lists permanent alopecia areta as a side effect, which I happened to get. Also look at this thread, it is long but plenty of people went bald from this drug

And it might be normal for someone else to lose 200 hairs a day, but it's not normal for me.

it makes your hair brittle and itchy due to the dryness, and throughout the day it gets damaged (ie rubbing on your pillow or scratching)

then it falls out

Btw are you sure this is not all in your head?

At first that is what I believed, but I now think the hair shedding is due to accutane messing up your immune system which leads to your t cells killing off the hair follicle. This is why my scalp is itchy in various spots, led by immediate hair fall in the same spots. The itchy feeling is my cells killing the follicles jfl.

I purchased topical steroid shampoo to HOPEFULLY counter this.

It's not in my head, sadly. Just got very unlucky. I've been keeping track of the hairfall since the first day I took accutane, becuase that was the only side effect I was worried about. The hair shedding began month 4 in extreme amounts and has not slowed down since.

i'm glad you're at least combating the issue instead of doing nothing

you'll make it in the end

How long is your hair? Is it curly, wavy or straight?

18 yrs old. My hairline has not changed, I'm thinning from every location even eyebrows.
Over. Im 26 cant even rip off 1 hair on purpose

It was straight before all of this. Now it is very curly. This is common in people who get permanent hairloss from accutane. One theory is that accutane changed the hair follicle to become curly, leading the immune system to recognize the hair as a "foreign object", thus trying to kill it.

This is why I purchased a steroid shampoo, to prevent the immune system from killing off more of my hair. I might have to buy a more potent steroid if the one I bought does not work, though.

Here is one of hands while shampooing my hair. This is maybe 1/5th of what comes out every shower.

And some thinning is already becoming apparent especially on the sides. I've never even heard of someone losing as much hair as me so fast... Really brutal.

This is common with curly hair tbh.
Also visit a dermatologist and see what they have to say.

Are you serious? What side effects did you have? 80mg for 6 months is chemotherapy tier. No sexual side effects?

You took 30mg daily for 1.5 years? What were your side effects? Any sexual side effects?

huge ass libido and if it weren't for nofap i would've probably developed fucked up fetishes. but nothing other than that. my skin was dry like the sahara, lips chapped and bled all the time and increased aggressiveness and hostility but that was all

Stop using skin products they are anti androgens that are thinning your skin.

They are suppressing androgen receptors

I get anxious when I see more than 2 strands

Imagine seeing 150+ strands of hair on your hands in the shower, every goddamn day. That's what accutane caused me
