I have the same problem, a recessed maxilla and a curved nose that is upturned.

Its because you have a low nasion and a weak nasal bridge, maxilla development need to be balanced by high nasion and high dorsal bridge(both male traits)to achieve a neutral or downturned nose. If your maxilla is underdeveloped you are prone to neutral/downturned nose, but in your case i would assume you nasion is really low so your dorsal bridge. If you have underdeveloped maxilla but with high nosion/bridge you get a hooked nose.
