Listened to this podcast episode earlier and thought I'd paste my notes in case it helps anyone. The show is called "my first million" and is fairly redpilled on success/entrepreneurship etc hosted by a legit self-made millionaire.
The host was reflecting on the incoming Depression and what he thinks are the most important "meta" skills that can help you thrive in any environment. I'll give a quick summary of what he said and you can decide whether it's cope or not.
Managing your emotions
We all know that life and career is largely an emotional game. If you're a complete mentalcel you've already lost unless you sort your issues out as you'll never maintain motivation and commitment to a goal through the inevitable turbulence.
Most of your behavioral problems and neuroses are from childhood, and they are often (but not always) fixable. When people imagine their goals and ideal life in the future they imagine the 'ups' quite accurately but there is a tendency to massively underestimate how bad the 'downs' are - so most people give up and will never reach their potential.
Recommendations
Books - The Body Keeps The Score, How to Change Your Mind
Exercises - Negative thought exercise (basically imagine the worst possible outcome and everything will seem not as bad after that jfl), Therapy
Copywriting
His point here is that by training yourself how to write well you train yourself to think well. Copywriting and the ability to sell and persuade is enormously valuable for anyone who wants to start their own business and also in general day to day life - the principles can be applied to almost anything that involves getting people to do what you want.
The key principle of copywriting is AIDA
Attention - Get someone to stop what they are doing and actually focus their attention on your message (hard)
Interest - Ignite their interest (usually by subtly appealing to their self-interest)
Desire - spark a desire for an outcome and show how your solution to their problem helps them to achieve this outcome
Action - pressure them to take the specific action you want them to
Reccomendations
Books - On Writing by Stephen King
Resources - Neville Medora (copywriting guru), Copywork (basically copying by hand successful sales pages/letters to burn the style and principles into your subconscious)
Managing and working with people
This is one of the hardest fucking things, especially if you are aspie etc you may never be good at this.
There is a huge gap between starting a business and running a business - they are often completely different skillsets. One requires creativity and is somewhat irrational, one requires rigid organization, efficiency, and rationality etc.
Delegation is a key skill, and learning how to use other people's strengths and skills to maximum effect in your advantage. This is a hard skill to learn but there is one important point to be made - start with yourself. You must master organizing your own time/productivity/work before you can hope to work effectively or manage others.
This is so important. You will always be a worker drone cuck if you do not learn this. Significant wealth and success are built on the backs of others!
Reccomendations
Books - How to Get Rich (Felix Dennis - almost self-made billionaire that used to bang hundreds of hookers), One Minute Manager, 5 Dysfunctions of a Team, Tucker Max blog on why he fired himself
(This is all quite useless if you don't have basic social skills so is advice for non-rotters)
Persuasion and Influence
Humans are not all that different to Pavlov's dogs. Behavior of the individual seems random but in large groups can be predicted extremely well. Learning the principles of influence and persuasion can not only help you to get what you want but protect you against people like salesmen and politicians manipulating you with the same techniques.
The Best book on this is 'Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion' by Robert Cialdini. The principles are as follows:
The host also recommends: How To Win Friends and Influence People.
I know a lot of people see this book as extremely bluepilled but the principles are solid. Just don't go too far with it and become a supplicating nice guy pussy.
You can check out the episode here. If you are not a total loser or you are unsure of what you want to do in the future then learning these skills will act as a multiplier to whatever else you do especially if you need to sell a product, vision or idea. They can also help with coping or getting motivation or money for looksmaxing.
