I don't see a problem with it. No woman is obligated to live with the father of her kids forever, and in the case of the dad dying or they broking up, she has the right to get in another relationship, and if the stepfather treats her kids like if they were their own (with the mom always keeping it clear that they aren't his responsibility/mandatory), then it's a bonus, not a minus.

I know many people that had a real father figure outside their family. The world is not fair, sometimes the dad dies (like in my case, he died when I was 4 years old), sometimes he's a piece of shit... and the real father figure is not blood related to us, and that's better than nothing.
