Reddit is such trash because of the way it operates. Your opinion gets censored if you're downvoted & the main subreddits are all filled with political propaganda. It's partly owned by TenCent, which is a Chinese company (and thus can be directed to enforce things the CCP wants) and that means that there's an incentive by the moderators and the hivemind to promote China.

It's been infiltrated by the CCP for a long time now. Every good subreddit gets banned if the administrators see it as a threat to the ideas they want Reddit to believe. They deleted r/the_donald for no reason.

It's incredibly shit and teaches you not to speak out of turn because otherwise your opinion will be censored. You have to talk like a cuck if you want to stay on the website for longer than 1 week.

It's great for science-related stuff. One of the subs you mentioned is r/tressless which is great. r/blackpillscience is also informative. It's just bad for a lot of other things.
