I thought I was forged from fire and thought
A lone mind seeing what others could not
I stood on a hill, shouting down at the herd
Calling them blind, obedient, absurd
But time moved like wind through the skin of my pride
And the hill was a circle, not a mountainside
Now I see faces. Weathered, quiet, wise.
With the same old rage cooled behind their eyes
Like that dad in the store with his cart full of whys
A lone mind seeing what others could not
I stood on a hill, shouting down at the herd
Calling them blind, obedient, absurd
But time moved like wind through the skin of my pride
And the hill was a circle, not a mountainside
Now I see faces. Weathered, quiet, wise.
With the same old rage cooled behind their eyes
Like that dad in the store with his cart full of whys
