Regarding lurking and having respect for the community.

Whether I join a small community on reddit or even here or wherever I always notice the same phenomenon happen again and again as the number of members Increase.
They shitpost unknowingly which imo spoils the quality of the whole community. I even think it makes the ogs of the community repelled due to the spike in quality so they are more likely to fade out and join another nich little forum (which will probably be ruined too)

What happened to lurking and letting the ones with the valuable info get the spotlight. I've been in this one community on reddit for a total of 3 years and I've never once made a thread due to me not needing to. I just admire the high quality posts and lurk which is indirectly keeping the flow of content good and high quality.

Might be water but I just wanted to say this to maybe bring awareness on ts?

I get what you mean but I also think shitposting is kinda just forum culture sometimes.

I agree that it definitely shouldn’t be the whole site but I also know that I remember being kinda like that where I used to try to be too careful with what I posted and it turned me off from the site for a while.

Shitposting should strictly be in the replies imo. Threads are off limits, it should be an unwritten rule for the longevity of the community
