I cringe hard when ppl say how we used to be more moral in the 30s because of muh religion.

If you are scared of going to hell for being evil, its not at all different than a bad person who would be a criminal not becoming one due to the fear of police.

And if a religion encouraged people to kill eachother, many would do it, not caring about whether its really moral or not. It never changed human nature, it just made them scared of breaking the rules.

Morality is literally only caused by religion and consequences to you’re actions

Is this not moral behavior?

Honduras is one of the most religious countries in the world and also one of the most dangerous.

There’s a reason so many islamics/muslims are always on the news for beheading people for not believing in their dogshit religion

Religion is projection. I’ve always been bothered by how religion takes credit for morality and good deeds. And there’s a lot of people who are naturally very low empathy and they use religion’s commands as a substitute for empathy in how to treat people, but because they put their effort into following those commands instead of just empathizing, there ends up being a lot of problems in how they deal with others.

You can say use the same logic to say everyone is immoral

>You only do “good things” because you are afraid that if you do a bad thing chemicals in your brain will make you feel bad and you don’t want to feel bad
The only reason people do “good” and “don’t do bad” is because they feel good doing good things and feel bad doing bad things. It’s really no different from people don’t doing good things because they think they will feel good in heaven from doing good things and will feel bad in hell for doing bad things. Yet people will ignore this because it does not fit their agenda.

Also plenty of Christian’s believe that faith alone is all the matters for heaven and hell, and works are not important, so your logic doesn’t even apply to them.

Personally I’m agnostic:soy:

There is a very big difference in a society which acts moral out of fear vs one that has a high average of people with "good" personal code of conduct.

For one those who can independently tell "right" from "wrong" on their own will be less gullible and less likely to commit "wrong" actions as that is what they genuinely believe in.

It also ensures that society just doesn't fall apart once it becomes more wealthy and developed as people start leaving religion.

No difference at all.
As Kant said, morality without religion is because you don’t want bad things to happen to you.
As you can’t be always an exception to the rule in a violent/bad/immoral system you act good hoping others will do the same.

You can change this with a heaven promise and still wouldn’t change anything at all
