I finally snapped at my family after holding it in for so long; they always ask me "xyz, why are you so lonely, and have nothing to look forward to on the weekend. These are the prime years of your life and you should be enjoying it!" This was very recent and at a family gathering so I just laughed and spilled everything out. For reference, I come from an extremely religious family, I wouldve been skinned alive if I had ever drank alchohol or went to parties. As a matter of fact, even in middle school I was very low inhib. I went to parties, football games, smoked, drank, flirted with girls, etc. But I got caught one too many times and my parents shunned me so hard. They never let me go out, couldnt bring anyone back to the house (I used to skate and whatnot with my friends and we'd have girls around and my mother would watch me from the distance and force me to come back inside because they believe being around women leads to bad things like premartial sex...lmfao.

Either way you get the idea, back to the family gathering. I finally snapped and told them, "do you know why so many of us are depressed and hate our life?" (my mother has depression, my dad somewhat does, so does my sibling and other cousin). "It's because of the ultra-restrictive parenting you forced. You blocked off every important thing neccessary to development : talking to girls, doing risky things, etc etc." I started telling them about the traditional american family and how loose they are; my american friends had the best parents. The parents were okay with letting them go to parties, drink, and have sex as long as they did it safely. You know what the first thing my American friend's parents told me when I was heading off to college ? "Man you are going to have the time of your life, the girl:man ratio is 5:1." You know what my fucking family says? "Wow , you should study hard and get a good job after. Remember to take care of us later on when you're rich and successful."

It's stupid. There is a threshold though after a certain age you can't really blame your upbringing but it sure as hell means alot. You are very naiive to think 15-16 years of hindered development caused by over restrictive parenting can be reverse with a few months of "just be confident bro, own up to ur mistakes and take action theory."

Here's a way to simplify it. Look at the average black guys family and sons, and look at the average Asians family and sons...enough said lmao. The black family is very loose with bad parenting and their kid ends up being super NT and low inhib. The asian family is helicoptering their child 24/7 and he ends up being a beta with mommy issues and can't even hold a conversation with a girl.

TLDR: Over restrictive parenting and/or religious parenting leads to stunted development in their child leading to social awkwardness, missing out on fun things growing up, ultimately leading to a depressing life.

20 man, it's time for a change. I'm going to try rushing a fratenirty since I'm new to the college scene to make some friends so I can get away from home. A lot of people have already established their living situations so it's hard to find roommates for apartments

Every classmate of mine who drank, had premarital sex, smoked weed, etc has a college degree and a job set up. Meanwhile I'm a college dropout NEET.

Similar thread I made and highlighting a redditor who realized the same thing: https://looksmax.org/threads/kids-do-drugs-and-skip-school.18199/

Social skills, being NT, whatever you want to call it, is essential to be successful. It's even known in business that "it's not what you know, it's who you know".

I agree. Social skills will almost always triump the typical 4.0 major whos lacking it. I think I read an article that in job interviewers the interviewer has already made up his/her mind in the first minute. These people genuinely want to be around you 8-9 hours a day because they like you and see you as a cool person.
