Second result is really good in my opinion, are you sure that was just mse?

As an msecel I approve of this message. Mse should be mostly for functional reasons and subhuman palates. Never exceed 6mm imo
You think it’s possible to avoid this by using a facemask. So that all the expansion isn’t in one dimension and get expansion in the 3 dimensions. Like there’s no way us Narrow palates have to become orge. What u think?

Facemask is probably going to only move the aveolar bone and the movement would only be in the same direction as the palate, so if you already have a downfacing maxilla, its going to bring it down.

I tried facemask for a few weeks like a dumbass and part of the MSE that holds the hook broke off. I was only able to guess that the benefit of FM would be that it helps disarticulate the pterygomaxillary suture at little bit (which snapped open suddenly.)

There was a thread I read back on The Great Work that described how FM at best could only work by bone deposition giving only a mm or two's worth of forward growth.

I simply think FM is a meme, I literally did it to report on it.

At best FM misses the point of forward growth and at worst it wastes time, money and dignity.

I have a 31 mm IMW, and my doc wants to try and do 2 MSE’s should I try to get to low 40’s IMW or just get 6 mm and be fine at 37 ish. Also have trouble getting good sleep / full nasal breathing

@Tasty17 bro I don't think australia approves FME so i might just need to do MSE how the fuck do i avoid getting botched?

Ignore the overall subhuman colouring of this photo it was terrible lighting, do I have a narrow palate?

Well, for the asthetics part I think conservative is better. Its also miserable doing MSE, so the shorter the better imo.

try correcting neck posture when sleeping first before considering MSE. Your pillow might be too far forward and it could be your tongue thats blocking your airway more than nose. Also could be stuffy nose from irritants or dryness (overcompensating mucus.) Its only a tiny difference it makes in breathing.

Brutal. I have inward tipped teeth so I can get some expansion from Invisalign, I was considering getting actual palate expansion but it alongside Bimax would’ve gorillamaxxed my alar base

Can we get good expansion with mse at 19-21 ??

At what age did you do your MSE?
I’m supposed to do mine at 20-21 and ortho thinks I shouldn’t need any surgical cuts.
I’m pretty narrow and trying to correct it.
I’m just worried about messing up my nose, i’ve already done a septo/rhino once and trying not to have to do another one.
I’ve tried a ton of stuff with sleep, almost no help at all, I've heard it makes a massive difference in sleep and breathing, really surprised you said it only helped minimally.
I’m guessing you would advise against doing 2 MSE’s?

MSE will change the way the bone supports the soft tissues of paranasal and nasal area. It might affect your face if you have a european base a tiny bit.

Yeah, I think 2 MSEs is too much, but I would have to see a scan and pic of bite.

There was diminishing returns after the initial first few mm of expansion for nasal airway breathing, bascially when that happened I was like "OMG this is great, breathing is gonna get even better when I finish expansion!" then I was underwhelmed when there wasnt as much change in breathing flow after all the turns of the MSE were completed.

But the nasal breathing gains were still permanent right? What percentage do you feel your airflow volume as increased?

Permanant but still can get clogged if your mucous membranes get irritated by very dry cold air, chemical stuff like detergents, inflamed by eating sugar etc.

While its interesting to talk about for functional medical reasons, its Looksmaxxing effects arent really as relevant and shouldnt really be discussed here anymore imo.

I believe that the MSE to looksmaxxing pipeline was part of a marketing funnel, popularized by Ronald Ead.

Do you feel it was worth it for you? Why did you do it?

Because breathing felt like this because I had a narrow nasal floor
artistic-synchronised-swimming-nose-clip-beige-colour.jpg

I also thought Id benefit aesthetically because I had a very narrow midface and IMW (32-33mm or something.)

I felt I had too much expansion @8mm, in retrospect, I disrupted my European base (nose) so it slightly affected some of the "sharpness" of my nose, but it wasnt enough to call ogreish. I didnt get too ogreish nose because I was already so narrow.

The perfect balance wouldve been 4-5mm expansion.

Did I think it was worth it? FUCK NO. I had to pay out of pocket $8300 and it failed TWICE and had a piece of metal scraping my tongue for almost two years, talking with a faggy lisp and a gap in my teeth for a total of 3 MSEs!

Heres another reason why you wouldnt want to go through it:

"Hey Mr.Looksmaxxer, whats that metal thing in your mouth?"
"Oh its um, you thee, theres this bone in your fathe called the maxthilla and if you have a low intermolar width......w-wait where are goin?"

MSE is only for sleep apnea indicated subhuman palate, not for normie looksmaxxing. Period. That is my perspective.

I went through MSE to report on it originally on The Great Work forum as a guineapig and to settle the MSE question. Its the least I could do as a millenial for the zoomies.

MSE funds are better spent on restoring the hairline because a better hairline is a net positive while the MSE's changes are riskier or questionable.

what would the ideal ‘safe’ range for mse be to avoid looking like shit? i’ve heard 5mm but i’m not sure

Would it be fair to say that your major gripes with MSE would've been addressed if you got an alar cinch to prevent nose widening? I'm assuming then it would be pure upside with palatal and zygomatic widening

would've probably been an ascension if he got a cinch and rhinoplasty for the wider nasal wings

Zygo widening didnt workout like you would think it would. There wasnt really an upswing in canthal tilt. The way the soft tissues overlay the increased surface area doesnt behave like you'd wish, it doesnt widen as if you had fillers/implants.

The palate widening doesnt solve the problem of it being downset. It doesnt attack the problem in ways that are as impactful. I thought that extra oral volume would let more of my tongue rest there but I learned that the problem wasnt volume, it was the height position of my palate restricting my tongue into my throat. MSE cannot resolve this as its a deeper skull issue.

Its asthetic impact is more akin to tradeoffs than net positive looksmaxx benefits if youre normie+

I would think if your upper dental arch is smaller than your lower due to an underbite kinda situation it would benefit but overbite candidates like myself, probably not really worth it, especially the time and money and goofy ass gap in the teeth and metal scraped tongue.

Did you try a facemask to try and achieve forward growth + CCW rotation? Or because of your overbite you weren't a candidate?

I tried facemask (the BOW) but the molar band broke off after a few weeks. No changes except feeling like a dumbass. It may have helped disarticulate the pterygomaxillary sutures which snapped causing a shit ton of pain (I collapsed on the floor.)

In hindsight, I learned that facial protraction misses the point of what foreward growth really is.

I already had a form of foreward growth, just that its translated at a downward angle. With a face with narrow dimensions, even if protraction somehow made a change, there wouldnt be enough lateral bone support to hold it up anyway (in my case.)
