After meditating today, I felt like staring at the wall for probably 15 minutes. I was just thinking about life and everything I've been through so far and got a strong feeling of gratitude towards life.

Thought it would be a good idea to share that reminder with you guys. It feels like a lot of people get caught up in what's wrong in their life, whether that's a specific situation, mental health, money problems or even our looks.

Not being preachy here, but it does help to sometimes take a step back and appreciate what's already here even if it may seem small.

You'll make it through, no matter what it is.

Nice thread. I actually got more into meditation after talking with you. Thanks for sharing that one meditation video with me tbh it got me started back into meditating.

Sometimes itโ€™s important to take a step back and focus on doing literally nothing.

Hey I'm really glad it did anything at all, people usually take it with a grain of salt. I still firmly believe meditation is one of the most powerful tools. :feelsokman:

Real as hell, especially when it comes to health. When you have a health issue, it feels like that's the only issue in your life.

There are many ways to meditate. My favorite is using a combination of mudra and focusing on breathing in order not to think about anything, leaving my mind effectively blank. Not the best analogy, but it feels like clearing my mind's cache if that makes sense. I've been experimenting with other types of meditation like Vipassana recently. Not sure about "attracting things"

This happens a lot in this space. I can understand situations where it may even be a necessity in order to grow, but it often isn't the case and just leads to negative thinking patterns and even depression. Good to have a ray of sunshine

Happy to hear the bright side. :Comfy: Be careful not to get too stressed however possible. You might know this but heavy stress, especially stress that can be easily mitigated or is caused by modern issues is one of our worst enemies as humans.

This opens up an interesting way of thinking about it as well, which is the fact that even things 'not working out' for us sometimes can shape us in ways we don't expect. Not really going into the "destiny" type of thing though

Spiritualcel
Kind of, but rather than mystical/spiritual, I see meditation as more of like a 'mental tool' of sorts. A way to slow down and process things, clean up my mind and sometimes even being more present depending on the type of meditation.

We never truly appreciate what we have until itโ€™s gone. People complain about being lmtn when there are others with deformed faces and missing limbs

That's really cool, what has your experience with meditation been so far? Have you felt like it it was much better when doing it consistently compared to having tons of breaks from meditation? Curious to hear about other people's experiences with this

Complaining can be part of life sometimes, doing it too much on the other hand can be detrimental in many ways. I'm a firm believer that there's a sweet spot to most things.

It's hard to when you're becoming more and more of an anti-natalist by the day. I look around me and I realise I'm quite lucky compared to a lot of people, but at the same time I see suffering everywhere. I notice my dad slowly losing his hair and his posture becoming more bent; I see the fine lines on my mother's face and the streak of whites among her hair. All I see is deterioration.
Why give me parents if it mean I'm gonna lose them? Why give me life if it means I'm gonna lose it? Why give me anything when I'm gonna lose it anyway? So it's really hard for me to be grateful for anything.

On a more light-hearted note, I found this quote recently which gave me some comfort but it's still mostly cope anyway: โ€œThe world is full of painful stories. Sometimes it seems as though there aren't any other kind and yet I found myself thinking how beautiful that glint of water was through the trees.โ€

I'm just happy for you that you can enjoy life. :Comfy:

What do you think brought you closer to the concept of antinatalism? The idea in itself doesn't sound like something you'd come up with on your own, ever - since our brains are literally built with procreation as our primary goal in life by default. Did you ever give it a thorough analysis in order to find out how/why it has been on your radar at all?

Regarding your observations on "deterioration" and questioning why you were given life, I totally get where you're coming from. Most of us have thought about this or something even remotely similar at least once in our lives. Watching our parents age can feel really sad. I see life as a temporary stop, and our parents are just a part of it, we do not own them, but they are rather gifts given to us. Not everyone gets to have these gifts, and some people's 'gifts' even turn into their enemies unfortunately. Speaking of this, one of my goals in life is to be able to donate to orphanages and see changes with my own eyes. Our parents or relatives aging isn't only deterioration as you mentioned, it reminds us that we have to live our lives as well because the earth doesn't stop spinning for us.

If there wouldn't be pain in losing someone, be it through admiration, respect or simply because they are part of our family, then there wouldn't be any love on earth. This is pretty much the cliche "there is no shadow without light", but it is as true as it gets. That's what gives us the ability to love, knowing that we can't take everything for granted. Nothing would feel precious if time wouldn't play a role in life. We have good memories because bad memories exist as well, that's my two cents on it.

I'm glad your message also had a light-hearted side, that quote is really beautiful and I actually imagined that scene in my mind when reading it. Thank you for those last words as well, hope you can see what I'm trying to paint with this message and maybe it makes a difference for you. :Peepi:

It can help a lot when it comes to overthinking as well, haven't had issues with that myself but I've seen it help others directly and the "storms" in their minds was apparently much calmer after being a bit consistent with it.

The quote " youll have 100 problems untill you have a health problem, then you only have 1 problem" motivates me to keep healthmaxing every day. Kinda cope but its enough to drag me through my daily cardio and to abstain goyslop (with exeptions)
