in the old days people lived in small groups and lived in serial monogamous relationship meaning they changed the partner every 4 year for ideal genetic variances within the group

no but your comment was on point. its estimated that people only stuck together until their children or child wasnt a total baby anymore and then moved on

it makes sense to have children from different partners just like it makes sense to have different stocks in your portfolio for savety reasons aka diversification theory
