Retainers stopping my maxilla to grow

So I have this kinds strange retainers, they were given to me by my orthodontist to supposedly make my bite better. They worked and I still use them, but I realized that they might be stopping my growth, I'm 14 about to turn 15 and I wanna keep my bones growing. The retainers are made of these hard plastic it's translucent but it's hard and it covers my whole upper teeth, only that zone, I only have 1 for the upper zone and in the lower zone I don't use anything. When I go a day without using them I feel really uncomfortable, I can't bite really good and I have to go back to my sub-5 bite. I'm worried that they might be stopping my growth and I really want to get and answer if I should keep using them or stop using them, I used them for over 4 months already.

Retainers don’t stop bone growth. They’re tooth-jailers, not growth-plate assassins. Your ortho gave you that shit to keep your teeth from relapsing into a meth-head bite, not to sabotage your jawline.

yet it does stop any type of natural palate widening, I stopped wearing them bc of that
