his testosterone level was too high. so high u cant reach that level naturally plus he did shit ton of drugs like injecting crack + alcohol plus steroids werent that dangerous back then like nowadays plus easy to get. To be honest for that lifestyle it was crucial he barely had any sleep he was stalking their victims through the day and hunt at night he slept like 3-4 hours taking steroids regularly helps you be more awake while u dont sleep much
