Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan: “With the Astana process, we had provided a break in the ongoing conflict in Syria and time for the regime to make peace with its people, but it did not take advantage of this. Especially in recent months, the rejection by the Syrian regime of the initiative launched by our President in anticipation of the upcoming process in Syria led to developments that proved us right.”

Ok

What does turkey want with syria
-Become the main power in MENA

-Fund and supply whoever they want whenever they want

-Facilitate the return of almost 4 million refugees

-Manage their issues with kurdish separatism

-Build military bases like in Lybia, Somalia and Qatar, to extend their influence

-Finally have a land corridor towards Israel to use as a bargaining chip, and oppose them properly (Or, sadly, expand trade with them, which i hope it doesn’t happen, but you never know with Erdogan)

-Extend their influence on Lebanon and Jordan, while funding whoever they want there, especially Lebanon by completely dominating the borders

-Being the main power to control Iran now in the region, instead of gulf states who have become mere observers after accepting and rehabilitating Assad again during the last year

-Gas pipeline project from Qatar to supply Europe that passes through Turkey which has been on standby for more than a decade

Basically, Neo-Ottomanism

Thanks for bothering to type of that.

I usually try to take an interest in current affairs but I know squat about Syria

I'm surprised you didn't mention Israel ... I'm sure the Turks want some action?

I did man. Look at the comment again. I can't say for sure.

Turkey is the main financer of the Palestinian factions fighting in Gaza (People don't know that usually) and exchange insults constantly with israeli diplomats on the media, but at the same time they trade with Israel (Although it has significantly decreased this last year, oficially they don't trade but they seem to keep doing small business below the rug)

You can never know with Erdogan and his goverments, they play too many games and sit at too many tables.

I think, if they really want to do something, they should issue an immediate statement telling Israel to stop their current offensive in the Golan Heights (They have just occupied a Syrian mount). Remember, Turkey is not Iran or the lebanese factions, because Turkey has a top notch air force and just as Israel targeted bunkers in Lebanon, Turkey can also target bunkers, so there is really no easy way out or propaganda boosts for Netanyahu in a suppossed conflict.

I doubt 🇹🇷 will bomb anybody tho 🤔
It's so bad for business and the 🇺🇸 will fuck them up bad 👎

What does turkey want with syria
turkey is the successor state of the Ottoman Empire and it views the lands of the northern Middle East (northern Iraq and syria) as theirs because they ruled them for hundreds of years

so they wanna control these regions and regain geopolitical influence there again

Outplayed by Turks, an average iq 80 population. Slavs, the eternal embarrassment. The real whites will step in now, no way they're letting Turks gain any territory. Erdogan in 2 months: 'america is mean white racist bullies of the world... can i pls join the EU now... pls... why not.. racists'
