How big of an issue is it and why does it form?

This thing has annoyed the fuck out of me and it looks worse irl, shit quality camera makes it not look as bad.

Whats different about people without it?
I'd much prefer to not have it.

I see people saying it because of recession but i dont seem recessed in the chin
but still geez look how deep the fold is
Mike mew said something about it being because of frequent use of the muscle on the chin, or using it to seal your lips. But I never use it, ever.

But yes, it does seem to correlate with a subhuman chin for most people

I'm seeing if it has anything to do with bite. Front teeth push bottom lip out a lot, and maybe that contributes

btw i looked up my old photos before braces and i didnt have it, so maybe its smthng to do with your teeth potrusion aswell?
