it's just an endless cycle at this point. Ukraine got tired of the Soviets treating them like shit (and hated communism too) so many of the Ukrainians collaborated with the nazis in ww2 and raped/killed many Russians.

Then bc of that Russia doesn't really give a shit what happens to the Ukrainian people as a result and slowly feelings of resentment build up over the years. Then Ukraine declares independence, gets its independence recognized in the 90s and soon tensions build up in the 2000s

Then ofc Russia annexes Crimea and eventually invades Ukraine, using that old hate as fuel to rally their people.

If you count ss galizien you might aswell count ss moskowien and the other ee ss divisions. Saying ukrainians were involved with the nazis during ww2 is like saying serbians were involved with them in ww2 because they were subjugated.
