Safe to use minoxidil orally and topically?

ive been using topical minoxidil almost a year on my eyebrows. Id like to grow my eyelashes longer but the topical irritates my eyes. Id also like to keep using topical minoxidil on eyebrows. Can i do both?

Don't put minoxidil on your eyelashes, it will absorb into your eye and dilate the blood vessels in it causing damage.

So let's separate different issues here and take them 1 by 1

1. is minoxidil safe for eyebrows
-Yes, as long as no minoxidil gets near your eyelids and your eyes. Minoxidil can cause thrombosis of the eye which can literally blind you.

2. Drinking topical minoxidil
Definitely DO NOT DO THAT. It has specific ingredients in it for topical application and is not meant to be taken orally.

3. Oral minoxidil
2.5mg daily is deemed safe by many dermatologist, but tbh it's a potentially more dangerous drug than finasteride, funnily enough finasteride is getting all the fearmongering.

Even 2.5mg comes with the issue that it is absorbed very fast into your bloodstream at a rate of 100x that of topical minoxidil. Since you're supposed to take the tablet every day indefinitely that is not without concern. The literature i've read seems to consider doses of up to 2.5mg a day in men safe... still it's a different animal from topical minoxidil which is very safe.
