Scared to wear elastics.

Ive had braces for 10 months and I've been wearing elastics for 6 months, a month ago a read that elastics can ruin my face and maxilla. So I did not wear them for 1.5 months.

this was me before the braces in February.

This is me now

The elastics reduced my overbite but I am scared to ruin my face now. Should I continue to wear the elastics?

Slippery slope I think . I got a poor result from the elastics , if I could , I would refuse them completely. I no longer the have the face I once did due to them.

I think there’s a critical period from where the overbite or underbite is managed then on is straight recession and or worse downward growth.

You do look like you have improved in your second photo, maybe talk with your ortho and be clear about your concerns ?.
