The brain begins by receiving information and adapting to it. If it is rewarded by an action then it will tend to it more and if it is harmed by an action then it will tend to it less. We can imagine the reward in doing each action as a hilly graph of innumerable dimensions. As Y decreases, incentive increases and as Y increases, incentive decreases. There are many innumerable and unquantifiable dimensions which affect Y. In this, we can say feelings are the combination of multiple associations of the vector of each graph which extrapolate the potential Y of the imagined coordinate. You cannot say that emotions are in any way objective or universal.
