this is gonna probably sound like a schizo theory but i feel like anytime we die, we don’t actually really ‘die,’ i mean we die in that universe but our subconscious mind would get transported to another you in a similar parallel universe of the one you were in. maybe that version of you that actually died, and this one just took over, continuing where he left off. maybe, we’re not in the original timeline anymore, just hopping from one version of ourselves to the next, endlessly. it goes in line with the idea that some philosophers and physicians have of maybe something like quantum immortality. the theory is that every possible outcome actually does happen. so when you die, it’s not really the end for you, it’s just the end of that particular version of you. your consciousnesses might not cease like how you’d think it would usually, it would just shift over to another version of yourself in a different reality. the consciousnesses transfers to a new universe similar to the one you know right now where you continue on unknowingly

What happens when you're so old that life is impossible

it’s more like you shift into the version of yourself that’s still alive in another timeline. same body, same face, just slightly different circumstances. you wouldn’t even notice the switch because everything feels “normal,” but maybe that version of you was supposed to die, and now you are just piloting whatever was left behind. same shell, different thread of reality. just another continuation

then maybe that’s when it finally ends. maybe that’s the one scenario where there’s no nearby version of you left to jump to. every possible timeline exhausted. no more branches to hop into. the body breaks down, the mind gives out, and there’s just nothing. or maybe even then, your mind forces itself into some fucked up version of existence, trapped in a coma, stuck in a vegetative state, or reliving memories on loop. maybe it doesn’t even let you go peacefully. maybe true death only comes when even the multiverse runs out of options for you. until then, you’re just stuck
