septoplasty + turbinate reduction surgery

Plan:
getting a COPE septoplasty and turbinate reduction surgery to finally fix my shitty ass breathing and (hopefully?) asymmetry.
my nose has prolly been fucked up for like 10 years finally gonna get something done, i don’t expect too much but all I’m hoping for is to slightly fix my crooked ass nose and terrible breathing.
“documenting” this here for any of you rotters thinking abt fixing this shit

Problem:
left nostril has been pretty much blocked for my entire life. no idea when it started but it’s been fucking up my allergies and asthma and shit and causing sleep apnea.
“just breathe through your nose bro” and it feels like hell, genuinely can’t imagine finally being able to breathe and sleep properly.

Expecting:
common knowledge that a septoplasty is strictly an internal procedure and provides minimal direct cosmetic change, but my nose is misaligned asf and has affected my entire facial development through shitty mouth breathing. literally just want to fix my breathing and by extension, looks.

want to see if this actually helps EXTERNALLY, or if it’s just something that improves over time internally.
anyone actually had this done and got good results? what’s the recovery like when they pull out the shit from your nose does it actually feel like ripping knives out your nostrils?

updating on this thread after the procedure and anesthesia so im actually conscious but preciate tips or stuff on my first actual thread.

but yeah pretty much fully recovered now breathing and sleep have both improved a ton already. lmk if you wanted to know anything in particular

How much/ was it covered

mine was covered by insurance since i went to an ENT because of airway issues, mainly hoping to get approved for some type of mouth expander.

i had the exact same procedure done. my experiance was great, I can breathe way better now. One thing i noticed that i havent seen anyone else talk about is my nose got slimmer. At first it was very swollen but after about 3 weeks my nose looked leaner than ever before. Not sure if this was a complete mistake or a really rare scenario but im not complaining.

definitely a positive side effect of the surgery since the deviated septum probably causes discomfort and therefore inflammation. hoping to see the same results after my swelling goes down it’s been like 3 weeks for me too.
