5% of Gen Z are on track for retirement
Most people are just a paycheck away from being homeless
Layoffs are also increasing meaning unless you have government assistance your two words away from being on the street as well at the moment your employer decides they don’t want to keep paying you.
Even businesses are struggling. The cost of everything is going up so that means they have to raise their prices. But when they raise their prices their sales decreases (only way to survive is being a evergreen general store established in 1875) which in turn means they can’t keep the lights on or pay their employees which in turn means more layoffs and shutdowns.
But just go to college!
the average college tuition is 17k a year meaning assuming you pay everything immediately you just burned $68,000 but let’s be real your not paying that off anytime soon so they’ll slap a average 4% interest rate meaning each year $3,000 is added to how much you owe. And this is just basic tuition this isn’t covering dorms, books, other class tools, etc.
Basically it’s a meme if you don’t have a scholarship. And even then you still have to actually do the work. 39% of people drop out.
And let’s say you do graduate. 50% of college graduates end up in a job that doesn’t even require their degree
Even if you do get lucky with a scholarship imagine ur kids or the future generations.
Cost of living is also insane. The average cost for a small studio apartment (one person) is 1.5k a month
Meanwhile the average persons paycheck each month is 5k (and that’s if ur making 60k a year. Jfl if you work minimum wage)
After tax and just basic rent you will be left maybe with 2-3k Letalone food, gas, electricity, water, and other basic necessities (which also is more expensive)
So maybe on a good month you will save 1k jfl if you live in a small studio by yourself
Either way you get it it’s hell
what I am worried about is how the fuck the future generation will survive when people now can barely take care of themselves?
There is no way up from here because ai will only slowly and slowly take more Jobs as it gets more advanced, jobs will slowly stop hiring actual Americans and just import cheap labor, wages will continue to slowly and slowly get worse as companies test the waters with how much they can enslave people before they refuse to work.
We joke about McDonald’s being a hard job to get but imagine the next generation. They wil genuinely literally go to school with their life goal to finally get hired at McDonald’s. McDonald’s might open up its own college and have people learn burger flipping with 10k tuition
How the fuck will capitalism survive once the average citizen has to finance a carton of eggs?
Will we have to move to like Universal basic income and we just get turned into robots who get fed goyslop
