It doesn't do this though. The same receptor adrenaline binds to, the beta 1 and 2 receptor, is the same receptor that propranolol inhibits so you are effectively inhibiting the effects of adrenaline in your body.

Compared to propranolol large consumption of alcohol is going to blow it out of the water, you are inebriated to the point your decision making skills are reduced so you can do shit that isn't socially acceptable easier. That being said I would recommend propranolol over alcohol given that your decision making is still intact but you have a lack of anxiety is social situations that would cause it, the best way I can describe propranolol is that the nausea / hit in your face feeling you may get if an attractive girl makes eye contact with you or if someone was to be hostile towards you isn't there. Alcohol is going to make you overconfident in these situations and as a result isn't ideal for situations in which you want to present yourself at your best.
