My friend alex (fake name obviously) met her in psych class. they talked a couple times, nothing major. she laughed once at a joke he made about the professor, followed him back on insta, and that was enough. That nga started wearing better shirts, fixing his posture, timing his walk so they’d leave the building at the same time. she never seemed annoyed. she smiled when he talked, asked how his weekend was once, let him borrow a pen. little things. just enough to keep the delusion fed.
he replied to one of her stories. blurry concert stage, nothing special. she replied with “haha yeah it was fun” and no follow-up. he reread it like it was code. kept liking her posts. even played the same song she had in the background of a reel like it was a secret message. she never messaged first. never asked him anything. never sat next to him unless there was no one else around. but he kept thinking, “she’s just shy. she’s not sure yet. she’s waiting on me.”
so one day after class he just went for it. caught her outside the building and asked if she wanted to get coffee sometime. she blinked, paused, then hit him with:
“oh… i never saw you like that. But you honestly thought i was ugly enough to date you?”
he laughed a little, said “sorry” like it was whatever, then walked home feeling like someone had pressed delete on his entire week.
turns out she wasn’t leading him on.
she was just nice. that’s it nga.
Moral of this water thread: never ask out if you aren't sure, she might just be friendly foid
