As long as you are in baggy pants + same color socks, It's impossible to get caught in lifts until only 1 inch is left in shaft height.
However, Based on my experience With elevator shoes i have noticed they have weird shape and due to that shape(for comfort purpose) they look bulky in itself make it much easier to notice when somebody is wearing them.
