I have a fairly wide jaw, definitely not narrow, but my overall face shape is more on the oval side. My zygos aren’t extremely wide, and my jaw is just slightly narrower than my zygos.
Here’s the thing: when I look in the mirror and clench just a little, my jaw width gets a bit closer to my zygos (while zygos are still wider), and my lower third looks much more defined. I genuinely think it improves my look a lot.
So my question is, if I chew hard gum for a while to hypertrophy my masseters, will my relaxed jaw look the same as it does now when I clench a bit? If so, I feel like it could be worth it.
However, I’ve also read a lot of criticisms about chewing gum, that it can cause bloat, make the face look rounder, or reduce bone definition. I’m trying to figure out if these downsides only happen to certain face types or like very narrow jaws or if it’s a general risk.
Has anyone with a similar facial structure tried this? Did it make your relaxed jawline look closer to your clenched jawline, or did it have unwanted side effects?
