I'm a really cloistered person, and have been this way my entire life. I still crave for connection that being one of the only things I want in life, but that's something I've not really gotten out of this friendship for some time. Only thing we did together was play games -- rarely hang out, only 2-4 times a year.

Now, there's been a big pause between us, almost half a year, but she did contact me to play some games recently.. and I don't know what should I do. I really don't wanna start the habit of gaming again. At the same time, it's a 10+ year friendship, and letting it die doesn't feel like the right thing to do.

I'm conflicted. What do you guys think? Any similar experiences?

You're craving a deep connection with someone, but this person is obviously not offering that. What you described between you two seemed good for you at the time, but I'm sure there must've been a reason for the distancing. Whether it was lack of time, communication, or just overall growth by you both, it doesn't matter now because it happened. I understand that 10+ years is a decent amount of time and the fact that you probably still have some sort of memory of them, but reaching out after half a year like nothing happened usually won't repair the hole in your friendship. You're facing a difficult choice, but realistically your options are: confront and tell them what you're looking for, let it go entirely, or keep it going like nothing happened. All of these are inherently bad for you, but only one gets rid of the problem, and I think by now you can tell which one does just that. My personal suggestion would be to let it go because despite it being a decade long friendship, some things in life just aren't meant to be. Friends come and go, but it's obvious some are going to leave a mark on you, but it's just how things are. If you want u can DM me and we can talk bout it cus i was in a similiar situation not long ago
