should I drop out of college (CS) to pursue trades? I’m starting to think I’m just wasting my time to end up in a deadbeat job only to make 80k a year which will eventually be replaced by AI.

I have a lot of passion to get into it but I always had an idea that going into trades makes me seem low IQ

plus they make way more and will never be replaced by AI

First off getting in is not easy. I am where I am today because of my personal connects. If you don’t have any connects to union members or prevailing wage contractors good fucking luck man. And don’t even think of going non union because I’ll tell you right now you not built for that shit

Second off, blue collar jobs are hot shit. You make good money because you work to death. I know people who get up to go to the site at 2 in the morning for a 6 am start time, and don’t get home until 7 at night. And they only get paid 8 hours, the rest of the time is commuting. And then it’s hard fucking labor when you’re working in grueling environments with an extremely toxic culture.

Not saying the trades are bullshit tho. If you play your cards right you can make some serious fucking coin. But you have to have the right hand of cards.
