I recently turned 15, im getting my braces off soon, but only now have i realised that i have a pretty horrible maxilla. (no zygos whatsoever, nose bump that appeared in the last 3 years) Im also feeling like im slowly developping an underbite which i think is because my lower jaw is growing while my maxilla isnt. When i get my braces off my ortho said that im gonna get permanent retainers on my upper jaw and clear retainers for night time for upper and lower jaw. Next time im going to see him i am going to ask him about a HAAS expander aswell as a reverse pull face mask because i refuse to live the way i am and theres no way im walking around my entire life with the recessed maxilla that i currently have. I dont know what my ortho is going to say about my suggestions but if he refuses im going to tell him how i accidentaly bite my tongue quite a lot (lie) and how i have trouble swallowing (partially true). If he still refuses im going to tell him that im not getting that permanent retainer because i really hate how i look and mention the underbite that im developping. Tell me if im incorrect somewhere or you have a suggestion for me.

maxilla forward growth ends at 8-10yo. sorry man

what does it say its not working for me. maybe im wrong but i talked to some professionals abt it
in short, maxillary forward growth usually ends at 18-20 years old for men with some later on (1-2mm in years).

Look how you became an orthodontist out of nowhere, keep dreaming Mews' fan.

The expander is not just a heaven on earth, it is used when the upper palate is narrower compared to the lower jaw, which means the lower jaw decides whether you need an expander or not, expanding too much will result in an uneven bite which you will have to undergo surgery later on.

If you are afraid that the orthodontist you met is an evil (which he most likely is not), try to consult several, if they plan the same treatment for you then they are right and you are wrong, please do not waste your youth, I suggest you to fix your dental problems as soon as possible.
