Should I give up on this girl

so I’m now 16, when I was 14 my friend started dating this girl, since I was his friend when she went out with him I would tag along, her friends also tagged along. Now I developed a huge crush on one of these girls and that was that. Now a year later I still like her, I try talking to her once on snap and it doesn’t really go anywhere so I give up hope.

Until one day I’m sat in science when the girl comes up behind me as I’m sat down and hugs me and says I looked sad. This was super awkward. After this I liked her even more. The next day she came up to me in lunch and told me that it meant nothing and she doesn’t like me like that.

Now a few days later one of her best friends asks me on the bus if I have the girls snap I say yes and she’s says u should talk to her, so I do I send her a message and it goes no where yet again. I decided to give up after this and a few weeks later and gave up again.later in science I over heard her another one of her friends say that she likes someone and the she says your allowed to like him (idk if I’m narcissistic) but I think she was talking about me

This was about 5 months ago now but I’m still not over her idk why if it’s hormones or whatever but it was my birthday today and she sent me a happy birthday message idk if that’s what girls do but no other ones did so idk. Also the girl that I thought liked me has tried to talk to me a lot so I think I’m cooked
