Should I immediately fix a chipped tooth?

I was sparring the other day without a mouthpiece and got my front tooth chipped a little.
Is there any risk by not fixing it? eg infection, rotting out quickly etc

I've had a hole in my tooth from a filling that came out for the past six months and I haven't gotten it fixed yet
I brush after everytime I eat tho
