I know it insensitive for me to say this, but I am not being illogical. For one, family/society will be relieved from the burden of caring for the elderly. Killing elders means more resources for those who will actually benefit society. Plus, not having to provide for an elder, like for example, your 87 year old, disabled grandma, means you’ll have more money+time and able to do more with your life.
I’ve talked with people who are over 85 years old about what they go through as an elder and it’s truly brutal. Usually, they have severe dementia, and not being able to remember is a horrible experience. Memories is what fulfills you, if you don’t remember, it might as well never have happened.
They will, of course, never be cured, as most are in their 90s. Many of them rarely receive visitors and often feel agitated and scared. I can't help but think that when they can no longer stand, eat, or care for themselves, a quick death would be more humane than enduring this suffering.
