Interesting question. Do you mean value kindness in ourselves, valuing kind people or the act of being kind? All are valuable for society and as long as there are no negative consequences I see no reason not to be kind. It is the morally right thing to do, you can increase someone's happiness for almost no cost or suffering on your part.
However, if it starts to cost you, you should probably stop being kind unless you are benefitting. You should also not be overly kind without a good reason, it will come off as fake and you will probably end up being used.
You should definitely value kind people in your life. And valuing the act of being kind is natural.
