I sleep in a fetal position on my side. I have forward head posture and lean back posture (which basically comes from this sleeping position). I can't just "stand up straight" at this point, my spine itself needs to be adjusted. Not only does it look weird, it removes some height, maybe up to an inch.
The solution is to fix the sleeping posture, and sleep on my back. But no matter how hard i try, I just can't fall asleep.

Have any of you forced yourself to sleep in a different position?

Back sleeping is probably cope, maybe edema swelling might be increased on the side where gravity is pushing water, but we’ve evolved to sleep on our side, I sleep with one arm underneath the pillow supporting my head, with my stomach facing the bed and my other arm holds onto the blanket. It locks me in place so I don’t turn throughout the night, and I put on white noise so I don’t wake up until my alarm goes off. Fetal works fine if you find it comfortable.

Well i dont think sleeping on the side is bad, it's sleeping on my side with a very curved back. It's not a cope to think about how doing that for 8 hours a day can mess up your posture. I can visibly see my posture fucked up directly because of my sleeping position.

Do you workout OP? A lot of posturing issues is weakness or asymmetry with your muscles, if you have one trap that does more work then the other your spine might be curved and etc. hips is one of the more common one

No but that's a good point. Good posture comes from good sleeping position and working out though. Working out does indeed force you to have good posture.

Resist any urge to move and try to induce a hypnagogic hallucination. Some people do this to lucid dream. I used to try it but failed at the lucid part. I would just fall asleep on my back.
