It is avoiding eye contact. The most textbook basement dweller autistic trait. Almost every autist I've met without a shadow of doubt struggles with this. It isn't shyness, it's self defense bcuz the autist knows the second they lock eyes with a normie, the jig is up they'll instantly clock the thousand yard stare of a man who has 0 social skills

It's hard to explain but it's that hollow gaze of social anxiety. The look of someone who's completely awkward and incompetent of holding a conversation. It is instantaneous and
almost supernatural how fast the other person registers "this guy is cooked."

I don't like seeing people in the eyes, I feel they are judging me.

I find myself making too much eye contact. Recently I've had to tell myself when to break eye contact because I just don't stop, I don't know why either.

this is so brutal and it’s smth i struggled with ALOTTTT, had to force myself to do it and train myself to get better, ideally in conversations you should make eye contact 80% of the time. brutal for all my fellow autistcels

My first job required me to make a lot of eye contact oftenly, so I had to master this skill not to get fired or anything.

I just hate looking at people in the face. I don't know why I'm like this.

The only real autist trait is saying or doing things in public when you shouldn't — this is the number one sign that someone can't understand social cues. As for eye contact some find people who are too open and have constant eye contact to look weird — and some find people who disregard others and avoid eye contact to look cool.

In some cultures, staring for long (even at face, not just eyes) can be considered very rude and may provoke a fight.

I struggle with that sometimes especially if the person I'm talking to is holding eye contact for too long

And I'm not feeling anxious about it or anything but sometimes I genuinely don't know where the fuck am I supposed to look while talking to a person it actually feels like rocket science

i spoke to a legit autist one time at an Anime convention, while i was talking to him he was looking at the opposite direction for the entire conversation. it was really weird and idk why it made me so angry and disgusted with him

Well that's because it's a sign of lacking respect — but why are you at an anime convention.
