Why Skincare Matters (Especially in India)
If you think skincare is unimportant, you’re wrong. Every man you idolize online — actors, influencers, athletes — all do some form of skincare (and even makeup sometimes). It’s not “girly” or “sigma” or whatever cringe label people throw around. It’s just hygiene and self-care.

Why is skincare extra important for Indian guys? • Weather: Sweaty summers, dry winters, crazy humidity — our skin suffers. • Pollution: Indian cities = dust, dirt, and pollution constantly clogging your pores. • Genetics: Indian skin is more prone to acne scars, pigmentation, and tanning. • Sun Exposure: UV index here is brutal. Skipping sunscreen will make you look like an old leather bag at 30.

Skincare Routine for Beginners

Before we start
: Identify Your Skin Type & Concern

First things first — figure out: • Skin Type: Dry, Oily, Combination, or Normal? • Main Concerns: Acne? Dull skin? Pigmentation? Uneven tone?

Golden Rule: Always buy products based on your skin type and concerns — not random Instagram trends. If possible, visit a dermatologist once to get a proper analysis.

Daily Routine

Step 1: Cleanser (AM/PM)
• Wash face with a gentle cleanser (like CeraVe). PM Tip: If you use sunscreen (which you should), double cleanse at night — 1. First, wipe face with micellar water (like Bioderma). 2. Then, cleanse with face wash. • On extra sweaty/dirty days, I swap my PM cleanser with a Salicylic Acid Cleanser (like Minimalist).

Step 2: Toner (Optional, AM) • After cleansing, pat face dry with a clean face towel. • Use toner only if needed — for dry skin, I use TONYMOLY Ceramide Mochi Toner. Most people can skip this.

Step 3: Targeted Serums (AM/PM)

Serums = Targeted treatment for specific concerns. Choose based on your needs: • Hydration: Hyaluronic Acid • Brightening: Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Kojic Acid • Exfoliation (2x a week): Glycolic Acid • Acne Treatment: Salicylic Acid, Tea Tree Oil

What I use: • AM: Vitamin C (daily) • PM: Salicylic Acid (3x/week) & Glycolic Acid (2x/week)

Step 4: Moisturizer (AM/PM) • After serum, always moisturize. • I use: • Cetaphil DAM (for normal to dry skin) • Bioderma Atoderm Crème Ultra (heavy-duty)

Step 5: Sunscreen (AM only — non-negotiable) • For dry/normal skin: Cream-based sunscreen • For oily/combination skin: Gel-based sunscreen • Minimum: SPF 50 + PA+++

Haircare Routine

Step 1: Shampoo
• Frequency depends on sweat/dirt. Generally, 3x a week works. • Use sulfate & paraben-free shampoo.
Step 2: Conditioner • Every time you shampoo, follow it up with conditioner.

Step 3: Leave-in Conditioner / Hair Serum • Not mandatory, but if you have dry hair, it’s a game-changer.

Step 4: Hair Mask (Optional) • For very dry/damaged hair, use a mask once a week.

Grooming Essentials

Lip Care
• AM: Apply Nivea Original Care lip balm. • PM: Use plain old Vaseline or Boroline before bed.

Shaving (for clean-shaven guys) • Use a good razor — I use the Gillette Fusion 5 Power. • Shaving foam? Try Gillette Charcoal Foam (cooling effect is elite). • After shave, apply an after shave lotion followed by a moisturizer.

Beard Care (for my beard bros) • Get a good quality Philips Trimmer (adjustable heads are clutch for styling).

Body Grooming • Get a ceramic blade trimmer for body hair. • Also, invest in a nose/ear trimmer (trust me — game changer).

Extra Hygiene Tips

Deo/Roll-on • My picks: Nivea Maxx Fresh or Rexona Men or Chemist at Play 5% AHA (for dark pits)

Oral Hygiene • Floss before brushing. Brush for 2 mins. Use a tongue cleaner. Follow up with a mouthwash.

Smelling Good • Mix a few drops of Plum body oil into your body lotion.
Final Advice

Skincare & grooming aren’t “cringe” — they’re basic self-respect. Take care of yourself and you’ll naturally feel more confident. Whether you’re trying to impress your crush, glow up for college, or just feel good in your own skin - you may even end up getting the baddie too😉
I know this might seem expensive for a lot of pajeets, and trust me, I got it. There are plenty of budget-friendly products that work just as well, especially if you focus on the basics — cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Skincare doesn’t have to break the bank JEETS.
