why do most modern day models and even older models have such a skinny frame instead of being muscular and built. Like i understand the diet part and being low bf% but im talking about how many models have skinny bideltoid width and have a thin frame. Wider shoulders look more masculine so im just confused why many models and agencies prefer thin frame

Thin frame can pull off more high fashion styles, look more aesthetically pleasing for modeling agencies because of what they consider to be ideally proportionate for their standards. Too wide of a bidelt is undesirable because too much bones length/muscles can interfere with fashion senses.

I made threads on other forums in 2019 highlighting the same question, as I was by that point in that year way more obsessed with frame, muscularity and sheer size than with face. I was pointing at how male models are small framed and such things.

Since then, I came to understand the reasons behind this from 3 perspectives: 1. fit of the fashion clothes 2. aesthetic appeal 3. sample among population.

1. Fit of the fashion clothes - Smaller, more average frames are easier to dress and to look specially good on most clothes. Models are, above anything else, human hangers for clothing showcasing, so as such, they're most valuable being the more universal as possible.

2. Aesthetic appeal - Thinner structures, including wrists, ankles, waists and even shoulders give off a more gracious, delicate impression. When this thin structure is met with muscles to add on health perceiving factors, a contrast is made and thus the intense image of the model is satisfied.

3. Sample among population - Modelling prioritizes good faces with muscular bodies. Good faces and muscular bodies along with specifically large frames to add sheer size? Simply not happening.
