Where is the line between softmaxx and hardmaxx?

I know softmaxxing is doing things to maximize one's appearance using natural methods instead of non-invasive surgery.
I know hardmaxxing is using invasive procedures or surgeries to change one's appearance.

Like for example I'm confused on whether orthodontic appliances are softmaxx or hardmaxx, or they are just different categories if it's a specific appliance.

some people might called it hardmax. But do you consider braces hardmax? no right?
braces fix overbite and chin recess and palate expander help your maxilla. It still take time and with enough time, it would fix your problems.
