The logic is, if the first 2 objects ( row) have dots inside and outside, it cancels out and the subtracted dots from larger one remains. And if in the first 2 objects (row) have both inside/outside they get added.
So in the 3rd row, according to this logic, only 2 dots should remain after substraction and that's on the outside
