Uni student. Can't focus on jack shit (exams, assignments) until deadline is nearly looming, as if I'm only motivated by beating the clock and turning shit in right before it's due. Very hyperactive. Doctor put me through various dosages of adderall XR and Concerta ER. Both pills felt like placebos. I noticed 0 differences from being on and off 30mg addy, it's as if I have some fucking genetic mutation. I have finals in 2 weeks and I'm hopeless cuz I know I'm gonna be sat reading the same passage 4 times over to understand what the fuck is going on in the exam.

I'm starting SSRI tomorrow, good or bad idea?

have the same problem and it got a bit better this year

My questions are:
1.Do you have a good social life?
2.How long have you been depressed?
3.How would you rate your self-esteem?
4.Do you have siblings?
5.How is your relationship with parents?
6.Have you had a gf?
7.Are you KHHV?

Procrastination itself is a cope to deal with non existent self-esteem because you're making the task more difficult by having less time to do it so completing it would be more gratifying. And failing it would be understandable too.
Also it's self-punishment-you might hate yourself because of lots of unresolved trauma and your body (if you're here very likely)

Chronic Procastinator's brain is wired differently from a healthy person
The same methods that work normally don't apply here:
i.e. reward and punishment method

Your brain doens't react to punishment nearly as much as a non-procrastinator's so GL motivating yourself with negative emotions
Normies do it all the time. They can force themselves to do something by visualizing something bad that will happen if they don't. You can't get that emotional response. Your brain doesn't want to cooperate.

Rewarding yourself doesn't work too well either but it's better still.

Summary:
You're fucked.

Advice:
Give up on educational endeavors for a while.
You should read a book about procrastination
one with studies citations and a more scientific approach (not a self-help book:feelsuhh:)
Don't be too hard on yourself.
Accept the magnitude of your problem.
Start dealing with other problems that don't seem to directly affect your education.
It may eventually make the procrastination problem disappear and definitely will make your life better.
